No one on the corner has swagger like Elam.

I have an allergy. Quite a large number of people have these “allergies,” or attempts by their body to reject something that it feels is dangerous. Most people have allergies to normal, harmless things, with some of the most popular being Dogs/Animals, Grass/Other Nature Shit, Peppers/Foods, and watching 2 and a Half Men. (This is often considered to not be harmless, and is actually quite detrimental to your health, and such.) Instead of these normal allergies, I have an allergy to gold.

Goldpile

So yea, I was up to 3k gold this week. Which is pretty spectacular for me, as I’m the one who went an entire expansion and a half without epic flying because I hate making money. I’m bad at it. Mainly because making money is booooring, and I’d rather be writing a blog, cleaning my sock drawer, giving a bath to an angry dwarf, saving the world, watching the plate spin in the microwave, etc. Nevertheless, through freak happenstance and me forgetting to spend money, I somehow managed to hit 3kish gold between Notelam and Elam. (Thinking about it, it was more like 3.5, actually.)

So, what did I do? Did I invest in the stock market? No. It’s wow and the stock market doesn’t exist, and if it did I wouldn’t trust it. Cairne/Thrall/Garrosh don’t exactly scream GOOD WITH NUMBERS to me. Did I decide to follow one of the thousand inscription guides and buyout herbs in bulk like I’m a drug dealer so that I might get rich of other people respeccing? No, because after the 82nd time my glyph of fan of knives didn’t sell last month, I decided that listing and relisting is a woman’s job. (I KID!!)

So, what did I do? I rescued all the money from my assorted character, assembled into one big pixelated pile on Elam, and dropped my herbalism tradeskill. Why? I have it on Notelam AND Grazeless too. Both my other 80s. >.< So, I clicked the little red “do not click this box” box, dropped my ability to go “^_^” and pick flowers while skipping through mulgore, and started enchanting.

Now, I was -planning- on paying my way to 300. After that, I was heading to Outland later this week to FARMFARMFARM my way to 350, and likewise until 450! I went about merrily on my way, spending maybe 500-1k gold getting to 300. Not so bad, I decided. Why not push for 350?…

Ok, goldsinks known as “runed STUPIDEXPENSIVE rods” aside (honestly, these are where the cost of leveling enchanting lies. They’re fucking 500ish G a piece at 350+), it was oooonly another 1000+ gold (and a loan from a qt rogue!) to get to 350. And besides, those ring enchants look miiiighty nice. So, I pushed on, scrounging up every green from between my alts, stalking the auction house for low cost infinite dust and got myself to 400 enchanting. And, with the 80 gold between -all- my characters (yes, I stole gold from my low level alts using it to level), I wasn’t even able to afford my level 380-400 enchanting recipes, so all I got was my 40 AP ring enchant.

Maybe I’ll be able to make half of the cost back from the thousand scrolls of enchant -something or other- that I made. True fax, inscripion+enchanting are almost as good a team as Sonny and Cher. Except, they both stay alive.

Was 80 Attack Power really worth it?

Would it have been more prudent for me to have been patient and farmed the mats?

Who framed Roger Rabbit?

These answers and more on the next episode of Unsolved Mysteries. :S (SRSLY, WHERE THE @#$% DID THAT SHOW GOOO.)

((Oh, and the answer was “probably not, but the 20 abyss crystals in my bank say ‘it’s cool, we still love you.’ Enchanting is freaking fun.”))

Poor Elam. The AH is indeed a stock market. Did you know I made over 10k gold on the 3.2 patch on titanium ores alone?

Hehe, no, I didn’t! I did know Sari/Korev made like 5k each when 3.1 and dual spec hit because they were smart about overstocking on and selling glyphs, while I just sat there like “DURP.”

Making money is easy! I’ve got like…60-something thousand gold and I just seem to get more. I don’t even know how.

Actually, the bulk of that was made exploiting the early gem market in the expansion. Bought like a few stacks of saronite for next to nothing and got scarlet rubies that sold for 100 something each. Now…I don’t know. I don’t even do dailies.

I’ve been thinking of dropping skinning for JCing or blacksmithing on my shaman but just couldn’t be bothered even though I could probably do it for about 5000 gold or something. But I’m the only skinner in the guild and…well, what if we need Onyxia Scale Cloaks again?

I sold glyphs for about three weeks and made something like 20K gold by simply listing them in the mornings before work. I didn’t play the mass-undercutting (or constant undercutting) game.

But then I got bored. :p

… and then I leveled Ihlana to 80 and blew through most of my stockpiled inks leveling inscription on a second character /just/ so I wouldn’t have to do the Sons of Hodir grind again.

AH really isn’t my thing, but I like knowing that I can make money relatively quickly if I want to.

But Sari… you could have spent your gold on Relics of Ulduar, much cheaper than leveling a profession.

Assuming I can sell them, the Snowfall Inks I made from milling Northrend herbs for Inks of the Sea (to trade for lower level inks for ‘lana) should pay for the cost of leveling inscription. I can also sell the glyphs I made, so there’s a bit of return there as well (although the leveling glyphs are basically worthless).

Holy hell Elam! Lol nice blog BTW, I read your shaman sticky in the WoW forums. After seeing that you had your own “blog” I decided to give it a go! Well… … … you didn’t disappoint me.

Oh and does it matter who framed the rabbit… as long as his wife is free, who cares!

Keep it up, look forward to reading more, now I gotta get going I have a date with a red head!
